مجموعه کتاب های کلاسیک دانشگاه هاروارد Harvard Classics

دانشگاه هاروارد (Harvard University) یک دانشگاه خصوصی در شهر کمبریج ایالت ماساچوست در ایالات متحدهٔ آمریکا است. قسمت هایی از دانشگاه هاروارد مثل دانشکده ی پزشکی و دانشکده ی بازرگانی در شهر مجاور کمبریج یعنی بوستون قرار دارد. هاروارد در سال ۱۶۳۶ توسط هیأت قانون‌گذاران ساخته شد. این دانشگاه اولین موسسهٔ آموزش عالی در کشور آمریکا و همچنین اولین بنیاد در آمریکای شمالی به شمار میرود.
در طول ۴۰ سال ریاست چارلز ویلیام الیوت، وی اصلاحات بزرگی را در این دانشگاه پدید آورد که از کارهای او می‌توان به: دوره‌های انتخابی، کلاس‌های کوچک و امتحانات ورودی اشاره کرد. این اصلاحات بر روی آموزش و پرورش آمریکا تاثیر گذاشته و هم آموزش متوسطه و هم آموزش عالی آمریکا به این شیوه تغییر یافت.مجموعه کتاب های حاضر یک مجموعه ۵۱ جلدی از آثار کلاسیک ادبیات جهان می باشد که توسط چارلز ویلیام الیوت ریاست وقت دانشگاه هاروارد ویرایش گردیده و در سال ۱۹۰۹ منتشر شد.
